To enable the realization of the range of Spencer cervical collars the research was concentrated on the most innovative materials which, even though destined for intensive use in extreme conditions, always guarantee levated standard. There is the choice between one-piece and two-piece collars, semi-rigid and rigid and between those that can become compact or the mono block type. In the treatment of the cervical rachis, the immobilization or the partial limitation of the mobility which can be achieved through the use of a collar, are important elements. In general, the more rigid the collar, the more efficient it is but, the containment required does depend on the pathology being treated. It is for this reason that we have created the large family of Spencer collars.

Jems

Adjustable rigid one-piece collar

The central part has a leaf of polyethylene, the borders covered in open-cell polyurethane and covered in orange leatherette. By means of a special fixing system using Velcro®, it is possible to adjust the collar in both vertical and horizontal directions thus allowing for adaptation to all patients. The materials used in the construction make it not only X-ray compatible but also strong. It is suitable for use in extrication and for rehabilitation. Jems is washable with any kind of detergent and can also be disinfected. It is easily compressed, thus reducing the amount of space needed for storage. Available in three sizes.

Dallas

Semi-rigid one-piece cervical collar

Dallas is the economical answer for temporary or emergency treatment of traumatized cervical columns. The collar is made entirely of closed cross-cell polyethylene foam which is flexible and has an easily washable surface. X-ray compatible. Thanks to its particular anatomical shape, it adapts perfectly to the form of the patients neck, giving support to the cervical vertebrae and making the positioning of the head easier and more comfortable. Closure is adjustable with the straps. Thanks to a compact and strong structure, it can be used more than once. The set has reduced dimensions and can therefore be employed as part of a first-aid kit. Available in five colour-coded sizes.

The Cerver cervical collars are indispensable instruments in all the situations in which it is necessary to immobilize the cervical muscular-skeleton system. They have been made with an exclusive production process. Composed of non-deformable, expansive, closed-cell materials with a non-slip vinyl coating, which is resistant to blood and any disinfectant. The structure confers good immobilization features. The wide central opening allows for an eventual emergency tracheotomy. The Velcro® closing allows for easy and fast use. Easily washable, nontoxic, fireproof and extremely resistant. Available in four sizes. They can be supplied as an individual item or in kit of four pieces, complete with transport bag.

The creative process of Spectar was based on two main points: the desire to invest in this sector and a new and multi-disciplined approach in the research. This has permitted us to create and produce a collar, that can be composed in various schemes; each element makes the most of its possibility to aggregate and generate unusual forms, to offer personalized therapeutic solutions. The unanimous recognition in the scientific world of the undisputable efficiency of the bivalve collar, is not restricted only to immobilization effects, but also to the exceptional method of application. Spectar Mousse

Comfort cervical collar

Outperforming the traditional separation between coating and padding, using a “new” material for the collars, but already widely used in other fields and capable to synthesize the extrication and comfort feature. Yamaha is a three-dimensional technical fabric, composed of two external parts over a layer of neoprene foam with an alveolar structure: it allows the passage of air while ensuring the absolute transpirability and the exchange of heat. The adoption of this fabric has permitted us to improve patient comfort and to guarantee successful sanitization. The Yamaha internal pillows are easily replaceable and washable, even in the washing machine. Available in three or six pieces kit, complete with transport bag.

Modular cervical collar

Planning with elasticity. That is being able to go beyond the conventional image of a collar as a rigid and monolithic object, to explore new possibilities and to confer elasticity and reactivity to the object. Novelty is in the air. A series of air cushions integrated within the structure of the collar, support and immobilize, are weightless, fit in and follow the profile of the neck. An extension makes for easy access to inflation and regulation valve. Moreover, not only the air system optimizes the extrication reducing flexion, it also completely isolates the ensemble from vibrations transmitted to the chassis during the transport. Spectar Foam

Extrication cervical collar

Classical paddings made of closed-cell polyethylene. The inert polymeric foam features a good elastic memory and the capability to be damp-proof. Thanks to an elevated thermo insulating power, it contributes to maintain of the body heat. Fixture to the supporting body is made of polycarbonate rivets, subtle enough not to compromise X-ray analysis, but strong enough to maintain the set up determined during the planning phase. Two-piece cervical collar

The cultural technique of Spencer has been able to identify two kinds of cervical immobilization:

YES Immobilization, allows the patient to reply “yes” when asks the operator if all is well.
Silent immobilization, with all the other devices that to do not comply with the YES technology, the patients are obliged to move the head because it is impossible for them to speak. This movement, commonplace in ordinary immobilization, could be damaging and cause further serious injury.

The double valve collar is based on a physical principal which permits transfer to the vertical components, of the physical strength that the operator applies to the device, when placing it around the patients’ neck. This technique allows for the correct extension of the cervical column, thus obtaining a neutral alignment, limiting the possibility of error. The YES collars are realized in thermo-pressed, biocompatible, closed-cell polyethylene, which guarantees excellent efficiency and

reduces the inflection-extension to the minimum
minimizes pressure on the carotid
guarantees X-rays, CAT scan and MRI investigations compatibility

increase the opening at the front for an easier access to the carotid artery and to create a convenient access for the tracheotomy

Nec Loc

Two-piece rigid cervical collar

Nec Loc is the most used rigid two-piece cervical collar for extrication in the world. It was developed by professionals of EMS and by researchers at prestigious bio-engineering universities in the USA, with the aim to produce a fast and safe immobilization of the cervical rachis. With respect to one-piece collars, Nec Loc assures a better control of the axial rotation movements and lateral flexion. It is easy and rapid to apply, even in confined spaces, thanks to an adjustable closure in Velcro®, which enables precise aligning. The fundamental structure is realized in low density polyethylene, it is flexible to improve application and rigid to optimize immobilization. The comfort of the patient is assured with the use of an internal padding of expansive, high density, closed-cell Plastizote.

It has a front opening to facilitate access to the tracheotomy. To enable a rapid identification of the Nec Loc required, each size is identifiable by a different colour. The low density polyethylene assures X-ray compatibility and easy cleaning. In fact, any residual blood or grease can be efficiently and easily removed. To reduce the thickness and the elements for assembly, a novel interfacing has been used for the realization of the joints of the collar. A fast pressure mechanism returns Nec Loc to a flat position that allows for storage in limited space. Available in eight sizes.

Multi-size collar

A worldwide premiere, the first industrial cervical collar manufactured with a new moulding method called co-moulding which unite two different materials: one semi-rigid and structural, the other soft and comfortable. Materials with an exceptional resistance put together, in order to give life to a collar that, unlike other collars existing on the market, does not have any mechanical fixation between the two components. Nec Up was born and developed in order to reduce problems regarding supplies and stocks, making the work of emergency personnel easier, thanks to the possibilities of size adjustment to many different patients. If it is not possible, for space. or budget related reasons to equip a rescue team with a kit of various collars of various sizes, Nec Up is the high-tech answer that guarantees cervical stability for traumatized patients.
