TSG ASSOCIATES BECOMES PART OF PROTECT MEDICAL
Protect Medical has acquired TSG Associates, a UK specialist in mass-casualty triage, incident management and casualty evacuation. The acquisition strengthens the Group’s EMS, Rescue and Tactical capabilities and adds more than 25 years of specialist experience in managing complex emergency scenarios.
Strengthening EMS, Rescue and Tactical Capabilities
When an incident involves multiple casualties, the challenge goes beyond treatment alone. Responders need to establish priorities quickly, maintain control of the scene, communicate clearly and move patients safely through the different stages of care.
These are areas in which TSG Associates has built specialist expertise for more than 25 years.
Founded in 1999 and based in Halifax, UK, TSG develops and supplies solutions for mass-casualty incident management, triage, casualty evacuation and patient-property management. Its customers include ambulance services, fire and rescue organisations, military users, hospitals, police forces, NGOs and international aid organisations.
By joining Protect Medical, TSG adds further specialist knowledge to the Group’s EMS, Rescue and Tactical capabilities.
From triage to incident management
One of TSG’s core areas of expertise is the management of multiple-casualty incidents.
Its SmartTriage™ portfolio has been developed to support first responders, medics and scene commanders in establishing structure and control from the earliest stages of an emergency.
The range covers different levels of response, from casualty identification and first-response equipment to command and vehicle-based systems.
The objective is practical: helping responders maintain clarity, prioritise effectively and manage information as the incident develops. For Protect Medical, this extends the Group’s capabilities into an area that sits before and alongside treatment and transport.

Supporting casualty evacuation
TSG also brings specialist expertise in casualty evacuation.
Its Xtract™SR range is designed around the practical requirements of moving casualties away from the point of injury, including in difficult terrain and demanding operational environments.
This creates a clear connection with areas already represented within Protect Medical, including rescue, patient handling, transport, field equipment and training.
For Spencer, that connection is particularly relevant. Our work has always focused on what happens once a patient needs to be handled, stabilised and moved. TSG adds further expertise around the management of the incident itself and the earlier stages of casualty prioritisation and evacuation.

A broader emergency-response capability
TSG brings knowledge in areas that are increasingly important when emergency services prepare for complex and large-scale incidents:
- mass-casualty triage
- incident command and organisation
- casualty evacuation
- operational preparedness
These capabilities complement the expertise already present across the Group and broaden the range of situations in which Protect Medical companies can support emergency professionals.
Antonio Ciardella, CEO of Protect Medical, commented:
“TSG has built a strong reputation among emergency services, defence organisations and international aid customers for robust, practical and reliable products. Together, we see significant opportunities to broaden the reach of TSG’s solutions and to offer our customers an even more comprehensive portfolio across rescue, tactical and EMS applications.”
What this means for Spencer
For Spencer customers and partners, the addition of TSG creates another connection across the emergency-response chain.
Spencer remains focused on emergency medical equipment, patient handling, transport and rescue. TSG adds specialist capability in triage, incident management and casualty evacuation.
Bringing these areas closer together creates opportunities to better support customers dealing with complex incidents, from the first organisation of the scene through to patient movement and transport.
Over the coming months, we look forward to introducing TSG’s solutions in greater detail and exploring where its expertise can complement the wider Protect Medical portfolio.
